Cameron Young made ⁤his‍ mark during the ‌third round ‍of the Travelers Championship, where he started ⁢tied for 24th. The 27-year-old‍ American golfer achieved a historic feat by recording the 13th sub-60 round in PGA⁣ Tour history ‍on Saturday at TPC River ‌Highlands in Connecticut.

Young’s outstanding performance included​ sinking a 10-foot par putt on the final hole to secure an ‍11-under-par 59. This accomplishment places him among an elite group‌ of PGA golfers, with Jim Furyk being the only other ​golfer to achieve this feat twice. Additionally, he became⁣ the first golfer‌ to achieve this since⁢ Scottie Scheffler at TPC Boston in 2020.

During the bogey-free round, Young had two eagles and seven birdies, falling just one stroke‍ short of Furyk’s record, also set at TPC River Highlands in 2016. Despite this, the world number 23 expressed modesty and perspective in acknowledging, “It’s ⁢certainly pretty cool. It’s fun to have your name on a list that short, but ⁣there are‌ some full tournaments that I probably would rank above it in ⁤terms of overall achievement.”

This remarkable performance⁤ marks a significant milestone in Young’s career, as he holds four professional wins⁣ but is yet ‌to claim a PGA victory. Prior to this, his⁣ previous low on the PGA Tour was a 62 at the Genesis Invitational‍ in 2022.
