Welcome to the Vibrant South End Community Center in Evanston
The South End Community Center (SECC) is now open and bustling with life as Evanston’s latest community hub. Beyond hosting various programs, meetings, and private events, this center features a delightful “Let’s Play” zone designed exclusively for young children aged 1-5. This colorful play area invites little ones to engage in imaginative play through climbing, scooting, and crawling activities.
Despite having launched with a summer open house on July 15th and a soft opening thereafter, many residents are still unaware of this enchanting space that accommodates families with children of all abilities.
The transformation of the former Little Beans Cafe into this community center was initiated by the city’s desire to create new revenue streams while enhancing local family engagement.

Stepping into “Let’s Play,” one finds it brimming with colorful structures reinventing childhood fantasies—with nothing but creative freedom as its limit.
