This investment not only aims to resolve the pressing issue of drinking water scarcity but also enhances overall public health and sanitation. The Bidar region, ‌known for ‌its rich culture and history, is set to transform with this major initiative.

The Need for Change

With rising populations‍ and increasing⁢ demand for potable water, the Bidar district ⁣has faced severe challenges in meeting water requirements. Multiple surveys have indicated that a substantial portion of the local population relies on contaminated water sources, leading to health issues‍ and economic burdens.

New Developments and⁤ Initiatives in Bidar ⁢District

Major Drinking Water Initiative for Basavakalyana Taluk

During the Karnataka⁣ Rajyotsava‍ celebrations held at Nehru Stadium in Bidar, Minister Eshwar Khandre⁢ announced a significant ₹1,600 crore project aimed at improving drinking water access in 500 ⁣villages​ within Basavakalyana taluk. This venture involves sourcing water from the Narayanpur dam. Once the detailed project report (DPR) ⁤is finalized, efforts ⁤to install pipelines for this sustainable drinking water ‌infrastructure will⁤ commence.

Enhanced Funding for Regional Development

Minister Khandre highlighted that the State Government has approved ₹5,000 crore for the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), allocating ₹550 crore specifically for development projects in Bidar district. Local authorities have‍ been ⁤instructed to ensure that construction of underground⁤ drainage systems and ⁤road repairs ‌across the district are completed by December 31.

Environmental⁣ Initiatives: A Push Towards Greenery

To bolster environmental efforts within Bidar,⁢ the ‌Forest Department has undertaken an‌ ambitious initiative by‍ planting 1.5 million saplings,⁣ setting a target of one million additional plantings. Financial resources have also ​been earmarked to ‍create a tree park and bird sanctuary that will enhance⁣ biodiversity and green‌ cover in the area.

Educational Infrastructure Expansion

The ‘Vivek Shala Kothadigala Nirmana’ scheme has already facilitated the construction of approximately 165 classrooms throughout Bidar​ district. Furthermore, ⁤Mr. Khandre ⁢announced an ‌allocation of ₹10 crore aimed at establishing⁤ a women’s degree college⁢ within⁣ Bidar city as ⁣part of broader educational initiatives planned for 2023-24.

In total, developmental projects in the region are receiving considerable ⁢financial support with approvals amounting to​ ₹311.18 crore under micro-projects and ‍₹167.55 crore under macro-projects.

Health Sector Improvements: Focus on Maternal and Infant Health

Praising ongoing improvements promoted by ​the ⁤Health and ⁢Family Welfare Department, Minister Khandre ⁤conveyed that substantial strides have been made towards reducing both Maternal Mortality​ Ratio (MMR) and Infant ​Mortality Rate (IMR) in Bidar district. Recognizing healthcare emergency protocols, he announced plans to ⁢increase Emergency Care and Recovery Centres to ensure timely medical‌ assistance during critical moments.

Resumption of‍ Air Travel Connectivity ​

Khandre further assured that services on the previously suspended Bidar-Bengaluru flight route would restart by December 15 after almost ten months without operation—enhancing connectivity between these key regions.

The ⁢festivities⁢ included ⁤an acknowledgment ceremony where individuals⁣ who excelled across various sectors⁤ received ⁤commendations for their ⁣contributions to society. Additionally, government departments showcased their programs through informative tableaux designed with impactful social⁢ messages during this celebratory‌ event.
