Tori Spelling Reflects on a Surprising Holiday Encounter
In a recent episode of her podcast, Misspelling, actress Tori Spelling, now 51, shared a nostalgic and intriguing holiday story involving actor John Corbett, who is currently 63 and best known for his role as Aidan Shaw on Sex and the City.
An Unexpected Connection at Christmas
During one of the festive family gatherings held annually by her father, legendary producer Aaron Spelling, Tori recounted an unexpected moment with Corbett prior to his rise in popularity. “My dad often invited new talent he was considering for various television roles,” she explained. “John came over before he became well-known from Sex and the City, and we instantly clicked. I vividly remember sharing a kiss with him on Christmas Eve.”
At that time, Corbett had received some recognition for his role in Northern Exposure, which caught her father’s attention as potential casting bait; however, plans changed when he secured another opportunity.
A Memorable but Fleeting Moment
Spelling described their kiss as significant yet brief. She recounted how it occurred while she was escorting him out after their merry evening together.
Reflecting on those years gone by, Tori admitted feeling somewhat embarrassed about her dating life then: “I had an on-and-off situation with someone named Noah—played by Vincent Young—but I didn’t follow through with what could have been something special with John.”
Insights into Her Personal Life
Recently in October, Tori opened up about her evolving relationship status following her divorce filing from Dean McDermott earlier this year—officially separated since June 17th.
“We maintain an amicable relationship,” she noted during an event celebrating the Gala of the Stars at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. “Many assume Hollywood divorces are always contentious; ours is not like that at all. We effectively co-parent our children together while also being good friends.”

As a mother to five children, managing both career demands and motherhood presents its challenges for Spelling: “It can be tough; however, many parents face similar situations.” She praised her children’s supportiveness as instrumental in balancing these aspects of life.
