Cori Broadus Opens Up About Her Health Journey

In the debut episode of the E! docuseries Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori⁤ & Wayne’s Story, 25-year-old Cori Broadus, daughter of‌ rapper Snoop Dogg,‌ shares her ⁢personal battles with health and mental well-being. Diagnosed with lupus at just six years old, Cori reflects on⁤ how this condition has profoundly ‍affected her life.

Struggles with Lupus and Mental Health

Cori candidly revealed her ongoing fight against‍ depression stemming from her chronic ⁤illness ‌during the December 5 episode. “Growing up, I often felt despondent, questioning ‘Why me?'” she confessed. The constant ⁣medical appointments and medication regimens ‍became overwhelming for her throughout ⁣childhood. The onset of ⁤COVID-19 plunged ⁤her into an even darker emotional state.

According to the Mayo Clinic, lupus ⁤is an autoimmune disorder where the body’s defense system erroneously⁤ attacks its own healthy tissues. There is currently no definitive cure for lupus, making‍ diagnosis tricky due to its overlapping symptoms with other illnesses.

A Turning Point in Her Life

During the ⁢pandemic, Cori faced an arduous moment when she contemplated suicide and subsequently sought help in a mental health facility in 2021. “I reached a point where I couldn’t see any alternatives,” she recounted. Fortunately, support from her fiancé Wayne Duece played a crucial role in helping her navigate ‍these turbulent times.

“I’m incredibly fortunate to have Wayne by my side,” she shared about their relationship while acknowledging that everyone faces their unique struggles. “It may seem insurmountable when you’re entrenched in those feelings; however, healing comes gradually.”

Channeling Pain into Creativity

To escape from ⁣despair during isolation, Cori found solace through entrepreneurial endeavors by launching⁣ Choc Factory—a cosmetics line aimed at empowering others through beauty products.

“I realized I had to take control over things that were dragging me down,” she reflected during confessions on air. “After researching various hobbies online, I stumbled upon lip gloss-making—what could be more fun?”

Building Resilience Amid Ongoing Battles

In discussions with close friend Itali Miller within this episode’s scope, Cori shed light on managing ⁢both lupus and mental health challenges effectively. “I’ve been⁤ off medications now for ⁢several months and my recent check-up showed remarkable improvements,” she reported optimistically. “Although I’m still fatigued ‌at times physically, I’ve experienced less discomfort.”

Cori previously‌ disclosed another serious health scare—a stroke earlier ‍this year—which prompted delays⁣ in wedding preparations alongside Duece.

By September 2023’s end-of-season update shared via PEOPLE magazine forums‍ online platform access points as well as takeaway tidbits such as herbal treatments embraced instead traditional prescriptions indicated strong commitment towards wellness journey enhancement lifestyle shifts .
