Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar provided an update during a press briefing regarding the incident. He indicated that “one parent appears to have loaded her children into her vehicle and then accelerated unintentionally toward the building, colliding with another car.”
Salazar elaborated that “the force from her vehicle pushed the other car forward, leading both vehicles to crash into a fence where multiple children were playing under the supervision of one staff member.” Unfortunately, this reckless sequence led to severe consequences for those on site.

The impact trapped 22-year-old Alexia Rosales—who worked at Excelled Montessori Plus—beneath one of the cars. Despite rescue efforts utilizing hydraulic equipment to lift the vehicle off her, Rosales succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Reports indicated that no fewer than five youngsters required medical attention at local hospitals due to various ailments related to this incident. Additionally, another teacher was also treated for injuries sustained during this tragic event. Local news outlets such as KENS 5 revealed that three children had been released by Thursday afternoon after receiving treatment.
According to Bexar County Emergency Services District 4 Fire & Rescue reports: among those present at the scene were three patients who opted not to go via ambulance while ten others received assistance from emergency responders right there.
